Typical Work
Under guidance of a journey-level mason and plasterer, performs various maintenance and alternation duties with special emphasis on those duties required to complete the specific on-the-job mason trades training program;
Obtains, prepares, and delivers materials on the job site and assists in assembly and installation;
Cleans up and maintains shop areas, work sites, and storage areas;
Completes on-the-job mason trades training program requirements;
Completes related academic training which will consist of designated trades schools and/or correspondence courses as available and applicable to the mason journey class;
Performs related duties and functions as specified in approved trades training program.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of masonry and plastering trades; safety precautions.
Ability to: work from blueprints, plans, and sketches; apply plaster and stucco; estimate time and materials needed to complete jobs; work on scaffolds.
