Definition
Lead respiratory care staff; provide advanced respiratory care to patients.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others.
Typical Work
Prioritizes and distributes workload and coordinate clinical activities of respiratory care staff;
Participates in respiratory care special projects;
Participates in continuing education and orientation of new staff;
Provides feedback on employee performance for the evaluation process and corrective actions;
Facilitates optimal utilization of available respiratory care equipment; obtain additional equipment (e.g., renting) as necessary;
Performs duties of a Respiratory Care Practitioner
May participate in respiratory care research activities;
Performs related duties as required.

Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Washington.

Desirable Qualifications
Completion of a respiratory care program approved by the State of Washington Department of Health
AND
Eighteen months of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Equivalent education/experience.
