Definition

Plans, designs, develops, implements and/or delivers specialized technical IT systems training and instructional programs, using instructor-led, train-the trainer, electronic/web-based, e-Learning, and/or multimedia training methods and formats. Conducts needs assessments, tests, and evaluates technical training programs utilized by an agency/institution in order to meet agency business needs, which would include new training technologies.

Typical Work

Consults with management in all aspects of technical training for organization-wide initiatives and projects; 

Coordinates the organization’s technical training resources;    

Selects and/or creates e-Learning training curriculum;  

Conducts needs assessments to identify and evaluate training requirements; 

Develops training materials to include training handbooks, job aids, models, multimedia visual aids, computer and web-based tutorials and standard operating procedures; 

Researches advancements in technologies and methods; evaluates training and development programs, using data collection instruments and procedures; 

Recommends and/or implements innovative solutions, modifications and enhancements to technology training programs; 

Directs training projects to include working with agency/institution IT staff to develop and administer in accordance with business needs and regulatory requirements; 

May oversee the budget for the training program; 

May supervise training program staff.

Knowledge and Abilities

Assignments require application of knowledge and expertise to make decisions on multiple technical IT training programs.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification.  It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Desirable Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree with focus on business, human resources, computer science, adult education or related field.  

AND

Five years of experience developing and delivering training which should include two years of experience related to technical IT training.
