In a photographic laboratory, processes panchromatic, color and infrared photography utilizing automated electronic equipment. Produces glass plotting plates, restituted film transparencies, rectified color print enlargements and processed aerial negatives.

Analyzes aerial color negatives using color video analyzer‑translator to determine proper filtration factors for printing color enlargements from color aerial negatives; processes aerial color contact prints and enlargements using an automatic color print processor; 

Analyzes aerial color and panchromatic negatives using electronic densitometer in order to print panchromatic and color contact prints; 

Prints both glass and film transparencies for stereoplotters using electronic scanning/dodging printer processing; 

Selects and blends chemicals for the processing of color and panchromatic prints, glass diapositives, and film positives; monitors and maintains activity of chemistry in processors thereby ensuring that uniformly high quality of products can be sustained; 

Prints standard, scaled or rectified enlargements from aerial, continuous tone or line copy negatives using standard or autofocus, rectifier enlarger; 

Processes aerial roll film of various sizes and emulsions using automatic film processor; 

Performs calibration, preventative maintenance, minor repairs, adjustments, replacements when required to photo electronic instruments; 

May perform as photographer using aerial mapping camera, small format cameras, or metric‑terrestrial equipment on aerial or ground photography projects on an as needed basis; 

Performs other work as required.

Knowledge of:  basic aerial photo‑lab techniques; capabilities of photographic laboratory equipment; characteristics of aerial film and paper materials and chemicals; geometrics required for rectification of aerial photography. 

Ability to: select the types of emulsion, chemistry, exposure and development to produce photo products of the quality required; work effectively in a confined dark area for extended periods of time; recognize and distinguish true color characteristics; perform aerial and ground photographic activities.

Three years of professional, commercial and/or industrial photography experience, which includes one year of Aerial Photo Laboratory experience involving subtractive color printing and use of color analyzer/translator.

Three years' experience as a Photo Technician 1, Aerial.
