BRGs are statewide, cross-agency employee-led networks dedicated to supporting and advocating for specific demographic groups. These groups model belonging, facilitate networking, and offer professional development opportunities while illuminating and addressing pertinent workplace issues affecting their members.
Washington state has a number of executive orders and directives related to workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion that enhance the recruitment, retention, and safety of the state’s workforce. State Government Veterans Initiatives
In May 2019, Governor Inslee signed Executive Order 19-01 on employment opportunities for every veteran, transitioning service member, Reserve and National Guard member and military spouse within Washington State. OFM State HR (SHR) is charged with setting standards for agency plans and developing agency resources. SHR is piloting several enterprise strategies in which agencies may participate, including but not limited to:
