Definition
Positions at this level oversee staff conducting field audits, coordinate audit scheduling, resolve unusual audit problems and conduct independent audits of the most complex and diversified companies including coastal export facilities.
Typical Work
Oversees field auditing and inventorying of licensed warehouses to ensure compliance with the Warehouse Act, Uniform Grain Storage Agreement and the U.S.D.A. Cooperative Agreement;
Directs and participates in complex audits such as ocean-shipping grain terminals having continuous in-and-out grain movements and centralized accounting procedures;
Initiates action to confirm reported or suspected shortages or other irregularities; proposes corrective actions;
Instructs, trains, and evaluates staff on the maintenance of uniform standards of accuracy, application of inspection policies and precedents, and theory and practical application of grain warehouse examination regulations and procedures;
Explains commodity Credit Corporation regulations and State grain storage laws and regulations to warehouse owners and managers; proposes remedial action for minor infractions for approval by the supervisor;
Submits regular reports on completed audits, work progress in the field and other aspects of field supervision;
May supervise lower level staff.

Desirable Qualifications
Positions typically require a Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, business administration, agricultural economics, or related field, and three years of relevant work experience.
