Typical Work
Maintains work, time, and cost records; assists in the collection of research data, observations, etc., and provides summaries or reports;
Supervises subordinates in breeding, egg taking, hatching, raising and caring for pheasants, and other game birds;
Decides number of eggs to be set each season to achieve required quota of birds;
Operates incubators and prescribes brooder management methods and types and amounts of feed to be used;
Detects, diagnoses and treats common poultry diseases; debeaks and brails birds; selects broodstock;
Arranges farming schedules; supervises and participates in soil preparation and planting and cultivation of feed and cover crops;
Supervises construction; maintenance and repair of game farm buildings and equipment;
Schedules, assigns, trains, and leads creamery operators and assistants in the processing of milk and dairy products;
Responsible for farm pickup of milk, delivery of finished products, and warehousing;
Schedule, assign, train and lead creamery operators and assistants in the processing of milk and dairy products;
May supervise lower level staff.

Desirable Qualifications
Four years’ experience in game farm operation or three years’ experience in a creamery or dairy processing work. College or vocational training in agriculture may be substituted for the work experience. Some positions require the ability to obtain a food handler’s permit and appropriate state licenses.
