Leads Pharmacy Technicians and others; performs a variety of technical and specialized pharmaceutical tasks in a pharmacy; assists with the development and implementation of procedures.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Typical Work
Directs the work of interns, students, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants;
Assists in coordinating and conducting the instruction and training on technical, specialized and distributive functions;
Participates in the development and implementation of procedures;
Assists in maintaining accurate time and attendance records;
Schedules pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistant staff;
Performs documentation functions, including billing, in designated areas of the pharmacy;
Monitors and performs in-house manufacturing of pharmaceuticals;
Performs order entry of medication orders into the pharmacy computer;
Assists with periodic peer review and evaluation of pharmacy assistants and interns;
Participates in process improvement program development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring;
Performs the duties of Pharmacy Technician 2;
Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: clinical pharmaceutical practices; drug control laws; pharmacy practice laws and regulations; Attorney General opinions; effective and efficient inspection and/or investigation techniques; practices and structures of various law enforcement agencies; rules of evidence and laws of arrest, search and seizure; procedures before administrative hearings and criminal courts.
Ability to: investigate complaints; coordinate and monitor a region-wide program; work effectively in situations requiring extreme tact and good judgment; write and speak clearly and concisely.
Legal Requirement(s)
Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.
Desirable Qualifications
One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician 2
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
