Definition
Supervise Alcoholism Therapists, support staff and others engaged in alcohol therapy or counseling. Coordinate, develop and provide therapy/counseling services for an alcohol treatment program.

Typical Work
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;
Supervise Alcoholism Therapists and other staff engaged in an alcoholism therapy program; review subordinates' case loads; provide advice regarding the treatment of cases as necessary;
Develop and implement policies, procedures and operational guidelines for an alcohol therapy program; establish and coordinate the process by which referrals are made to other health care agencies;
Maintain a client case load;
Perform the duties of an Alcoholism Therapist I;
Perform related duties as required.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.
Desirable Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, and three years of experience in the direct delivery of professional alcohol therapy; OR Master's Degree in a social or behavioral science, public health, nursing, or related field to include training in alcoholism counseling/therapy, plus one year of experience. Completion of a college/university alcohol studies program can be substituted for one year of experience. Additional professional-level experience may be substituted for education on an equal basis.
