Class Series Concept
Positions in this occupational category operate, load and unload trucks, vans, and other vehicles as needed. Positions drive trucks and/or vans to transport materials, equipment and passengers. Might perform pick up, transfer, and delivery of specified equipment and supplies.
Definition
Positions in this level operate small, light-duty trucks, vans, and similar vehicles to pick up, transfer and deliver items. Positions load and unload trucks and vans. Transports and assists passengers, as required, in vehicles of 25 persons or less.
Typical Work
Drives truck to haul personnel, materials, supplies, and/or equipment;
Loads and unloads trucks;
Greases, oils and makes repairs to equipment;
Picks-up, delivers, and assembles supplies, furniture, custodial goods, printing stock, parcel post, etc.;
Performs minor maintenance to vehicles;
Picks up and delivers hazardous materials;
Maintains records of goods received and delivered and vehicle service records;
May supervise lower level staff.

Some positions may be required to have a Class A, B or C Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements as required by Federal law.

Desirable Qualifications
Positions typically require possession of a valid driver's license, record free from serious traffic violations, and the ability to read and write and physical ability to perform heavy outdoor work
