Definition
Positions in this level supervise at least four lower level Custodians or a total program for an agency/facility/institution with at least fifteen assigned personnel performing custodial/housekeeping duties. Positions may also manage a custodial services department which encompasses multiple building complexes. Positions have responsibility for planning, organizing, executing, controlling and evaluating activities and functions of an organization, including budget, policies, procedures and staff supervision.
Typical Work
Supervises and instructs assigned personnel in the care, cleaning and upkeep of facilities;
Plans, develops and directs the activity of a custodial department;
Analyzes needs for staffing, equipment and supplies;

Establishes standards for, and approves purchases of supplies and equipment.

Desirable Qualifications
Positions typically require two to four years’ experience supervising or directing others in large-scale housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance or custodial work.
