Definition

Lead assigned staff; collect blood specimens and perform simple laboratory procedures.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Under general supervision, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others.

Typical Work

Check and record the work of phlebotomists performing human venipuncture; 

Assure blood drawing procedures are followed and orders are completed as requested; 

Assist in training new employees; assign work; 

Maintain inventory and order supplies; 

Maintain recordkeeping and data collection; 

Perform the work of a Phlebotomist; 

Perform related duties as required.

Legal Requirement(s)

Obtain state of Washington certification as a Health Care Assistant Level A within sixty days of employment date. 

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Desirable Qualifications

High school graduation

 

AND

 

One year of experience as a phlebotomist

 

Equivalent education/experience.
