Assists in the performance of statewide fire and life safety program duties.

Under an assigned supervisor and/or trainer, receives specialized training and assists in the development and implementation of statewide fire programs such as fire and life safety inspections, fire service training, fire prevention functions, and emergency mobilization.

Participates in fire and life safety inspections and surveys under the direction of the State Fire Marshal’s Office;

Participates in or assists in performing fire investigations of unknown or suspicious origin;

Participates in developing and presenting fire safety programs to interested groups;

Attends training classes and seminars as required;

Collects, tracks, and reviews fire related data and statistics;

Assists with emergency mobilization responsibilities;

Assists with state fire service agency communications and coordination;

Assist managers and supervisors with managing, developing, and implementing fire related course curriculum, including curriculum development and updates, and course instruction as needed;

Maintains office files covering field inspections, reports, memos, and training records;

Assists in the enforcement of state fireworks regulations and fire sprinklers;

Assists in the review of the installation or alteration of fire protection systems;

Performs other work as required.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Two years of paid or volunteer experiences as a firefighter, police officer, codes enforcement officer, insurance industry inspector or investigator.

College-level training in fire protection, police science, law enforcement or allied field may substitute, year for year, for experience.
