POLYSOMNOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGIST
Definition
Typical Work
Program montages on sleep acquisition systems; troubleshoot acquisition and scoring program issues;
Address environmental, equipment and engineering issues that affect patient care delivery; determine appropriate course of action including test cancellations and initiating system changes with manufacturer;
Conduct and score all types of sleep studies including overnight polysomnography (multiple montages), MSLT, MWT, CPAP and Bi-level PAP titration, supplemental O2 titration, pH monitoring, and portable sleep studies;
Provide direction to staff; adjust work schedules according to patient volumes;
Perform the work of Polysomnographic Technician II;
Perform related duties as required.
Legal Requirement(s)
Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.
Desirable Qualifications
Graduate of an AMA-approved school of respiratory care, electroencephalogram diagnostics or polysomnography
AND
Three years of experience conducting sleep studies in a patient care setting including one year scoring sleep studies
AND
Certified in CPR AND registered with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
OR
Equivalent education/experience
