Class Series Concept

Establish and maintain quality assurance and/or education programs to ensure imaging and recording systems function accurately, consistently, and safely to produce quality diagnostic images and/or to ensure sufficient clinical training and inservice education in imaging technology.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Under general direction, establish and maintain quality assurance program for all imaging technology services and/or student clinical and inservice education programs.

Typical Work

Coordinate the quality assurance program for all divisions; participate in hospital-wide quality assurance activities; 

Teach quality assurance and documentation procedure;  

Develop curricula for and conduct inservice education programs; consult with management, technical, and medical staff to develop goals and objectives of inservice education; submit inservice education programs to the national registry organization for evaluation; schedule and publicize inservice programs; maintain inservice education records; coordinate student clinical education program; direct and evaluate student performance in clinic; maintain student clinical records; 

Monitor monthly indicators on selected criteria for each area of the department; analyze and evaluate data collected from the indicators and from risk management reports; identify and report trends; 

Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures related to quality assurance and to clinical and continuing education including membership in professional organizations; maintain the departmental policy and procedure manual ensuring compliance with JCAHO standards and hospital policy; 

Maintain and update department library; 

Process incident/accident/quality improvement report forms; 

Coordinate orientation of students and staff; 

Monitor radiology film badge readings; collect and distribute badges; 

File and distribute reports;  

May assist in technique standardization projects and/or quality assurance program; 

May conduct, analyze and report on staff and customer satisfaction surveys.

Legal Requirement(s)

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.   

Certified by the state of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Desirable Qualifications

Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school AND registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) AND three years of experience as an Imaging Technologist II, or equivalent 

OR 

Equivalent education/experience.
