Definition
As a college or university graduate of an accredited four-year institution, trains for and performs first-year professional assignments in a variety of areas such as communications, writing, research analysis, administrative assistance, or allied assignments
Incumbents normally advance to the next higher level class in their assigned area of work following completion of an approved in-training plan of 6-24 months in duration.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Incumbents in this class carry a Bachelor's degree in such fields of study as literature, history, English, journalism, communications, liberal arts, or related discipline.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.
Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.
Desirable Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in a general studies field such as: literature, English, history, music, research, anthropology, liberal arts, etc.
College or university students, including state employees, who are enrolled and scheduled to complete their degree requirements within 9 months may apply. The degree must be achieved, however, prior to appointment.
Note: Selective certification may be requested and applied to designated disciplines and/or internship/fellowship/work-study programs.
