As a college or university graduate of an accredited four-year institution, trains for and performs first-year professional legal work, community corrections work, social work, juvenile rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, or allied assignments.

Incumbents in this class carry a Bachelor's degree in a criminal justice law, social science, psychology, recreation, education or related discipline.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

A Bachelor's degree in such disciplines as: criminal justice, law, psychology, social work, sociology, recreation, vocational therapy, education, etc.

College or university students, including state employees, who are enrolled and scheduled to complete their degree requirements within 9 months may apply. The degree must be achieved, however, prior to appointment.

Note: Selective certification may be requested and applied to designated disciplines and/or internship/fellowship/work-study programs.
