Class Series Concept
Positions in this series analyze management problems, provide consultation, develop strategies, conduct research, formulate recommendations, and coordinate implementation of strategic and long-range planning activities in areas such as business and organizational planning, budgeting, operations, policy issues, and proposed legislation. Incumbents develop and implement processes for monitoring and measuring outcomes of activities.
Definition
Positions at this level work under close supervision assisting higher level analysts or managerial staff in conducting studies and analyses and/or participating in the decision making process regarding varied complex management problems or positions conduct less complex studies independently. Incumbents perform routine planning, research, studies, analysis, evaluation, and report preparation.
Typical Work
Consults with administrative, supervisory, and operating personnel to determine and define problem areas;
Analyzes problem areas, devises and recommends solutions;
Gathers information, prepares routine data summaries and narrative reports, and assists higher-level staff with preparation of complex reports;
Coordinates work activities and tasks with others;
May serve as an assistant to a principal staff officer, major unit head, or division head.

Desirable Qualifications
Positions typically require a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, law, public health, health administration, or a related field.
