Distinguishing Characteristics
Single class - no series. First-line supervisor of data control personnel. Supervise computer operations personnel where no Computer Operations Supervisor position exists.
Typical Work
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;
Direct and coordinate computer program staging and/or scheduling;
Consult with systems development personnel on policies and procedures to expedite work flow and to improve productivity;
Advise management on problems relating to data collection and dissemination;
Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures for documentation standards related to the processing of data control systems;
Confer with user departments to implement controls and schedules;
Adjust job schedules to facilitate improved work flow;
Direct daily collection of data control data;
Perform related duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications
Three years of full-time experience as a Data Control Technician, including one year as a lead.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
