Distinguishing Characteristics
Typical Work
Operates color analyzer and enlarger to produce commercial color photographic contact and enlargement prints;
Operates process cameras to produce half‑tone, duo‑tone, and high quality line copy reproductions for offset duplication or film and paper reproductions, utilizing automatic processing equipment;
Uses electronic photographic equipment (densitometers and gammamatic unit) for determining proper exposure control of photographic materials;
Produces and duplicates color transparencies and negative film in various sizes;
Assists in the training of photolithographers in all phases of photographic procedures;
Performs minor maintenance and repairs on all photographic equipment;
Performs other work as may be required.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: operation, adjustment, and maintenance of photographic equipment such as: process cameras, color enlargers and analyzers, densitometers, automatic film and paper processors, and professional cameras; methods and techniques to produce color photographic prints, duplicate transparencies, and quality line and half‑tone negatives.
Ability to: analyze and produce the desired or best possible product utilizing a variety of methods, techniques, and materials necessary to accomplish this product.
Legal Requirement(s)
Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.
Desirable Qualifications
Two years as a Photolithographer 1.
OR
Four years of experience in commercial or industrial photography, reprographics or photolithography, six months of which shall have been in the color photographic field.
Education in commercial or industrial photography, reprographics or photolithography may be substituted, year for year, for experience.
