HEALTH EDUCATION RESOURCES COOR 2
Definition
Responsible for the coordination of learning resource activities between faculty, staff and students, in the health sciences area and external health education professionals in the areas of:
- Curriculum planning,
- Development and implementation of evaluation techniques, and
- Instructional media delivery.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Positions at this level carry out project and program assignments given in terms of defined objectives and are expected to independently develop methods necessary to achieve that goal. Positions at this level are differentiated by the level of responsibility and the specific knowledge required to perform the work.
Typical Work
Assist faculty in curriculum planning by such activities as selecting and providing learning resource materials; advise students on problems encountered in meeting course objectives and coordinate logistic endeavors associated with such courses based on an understanding of the faculty members' technical use and scientific content of instructional materials and associated evaluation methodology;
Develop programs relating to instructional materials identification in specific areas by conducting national and regional searches and creating subsequent retrieval systems with the eventual objective of development of information centers and/or catalogues and/or institutional loan systems;
Develop evaluation programs in such areas as new teaching materials and/or techniques, course objectives, and knowledge acquisition; design and conduct surveys by the use of techniques such as systems analysis, and/or statistical comparisons, and/or medical audit, etc.;
Coordinate and maintain affiliated self-learning instructional materials laboratories;
Organize and/or participate in conferences, workshops, demonstrations and classes on the application and utilization of instructional materials;
Select and purchase educational materials, services, and audio-visual equipment;
Plan and assign work of support staff;
Interview, select and evaluate performance of support staff;
May perform any of the duties of a Health Education Coordinator 1;
Perform related duties as required.
Legal Requirement(s)
There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.
Desirable Qualifications
Master's Degree in education, health education or health science discipline;
AND
Two years of experience in the development, planning or coordination of health or education related activities, including one year in developing and/or evaluating instructional media materials.
Equivalent level experience may be substituted for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Examination Requirements:
- A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
