ELECTRONIC MEDIA PRODUCER
Class Series Concept
Designs, creates, directs, produces and edits recorded and/or live digital multimedia and audio-video/television programs.
Definition
Directs crew and cast during rehearsal and performance of live or recorded digital multimedia and audio-video/television programs.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Under general supervision, directs recorded and/or live digital multimedia and audio-video/television programs and material.
Typical Work
Participates in planning for production of television and audio-video materials which may include assisting in developing content by providing information on production requirements and capabilities and developing production scripts from concepts and content outlines provided by resource people;
Assists in the organizing and directing phases of the production process such as rehearsing and directing performers and production crews and coordinating digital multimedia works, audio work, scenes, music, timing, graphics, camera work, and script;
Directs assigned digital multimedia, audio or television programs;
Provides technical advice to staff and others on proper use of digital multimedia, television and audio equipment;
Assures proper usage of a wide variety of complex digital multimedia, television and audio recording equipment;
Directs editing of television and audio recordings;
Assists in training crew members in the operation of audio-video recording equipment;
Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: principles of visual media production, corporate/non-broadcast production, educational television, and close-circuit television; basic methods of problem solving, learning processes, and principles and methods of employee training.
Ability to: direct production including making decisions on placement of props, lighting, staging, audio, technical direction of camera(s), and editing; gather and analyze data, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; creatively turn abstract ideas into tangible products; write creatively; stay current on technology requirements, changes and trends; use digital technology, software and computers for production of audio-video multimedia.

Desirable Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree with major field of study in television production, communications, or instructional media
AND
one year of experience in television production, audio production, instructional design or related field.
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
