Distinguishing Characteristics
Typical Work
In consultation with a Print Shop Manager, or equivalent authority, determine work priorities and assign workload to journey printers;
Operate and maintain offset or letterpress printing equipment (e.g., 25 x 38 or larger offset presses, and vertical letterpresses);
In accordance to layout specifications, mix or check all pressroom inks for proper color and shade;
Direct journey press operator and assure proper maintenance of pressroom equipment;
Perform related duties as required.
Legal Requirement(s)
Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.
Desirable Qualifications
Two years of experience as a journey press operator.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Examination Requirements
A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability, and other elements which are established through job analysis.
