ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL TECHNICIAN 3
Definition
This is the senior, specialist, or leadworker level of the series. Coordinates projects related to environmental technical work in office, laboratory, or campus in a variety of job areas.
Coordinates established programs; e.g., collection of hazardous chemical waste, vector control, sample collection, and routine field measurements.
Typical Work
Conducts assigned investigations involving hazardous chemicals, radiation safety, fire protection, general safety, vector control, and environmental sanitation;
Develops and drafts plans and specifications for projects;
Computes data;
Operates direct service programs related to hazardous chemical disposal, radiation safety, fire protection and general safety, and environmental sanitation; assists in surveys and inspections of sources;
Examines and analyzes campus environmental problems;
May direct the work of assigned personnel;
May supervise lower level staff.
Legal Requirement(s)
There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.
Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.
Desirable Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field and one year of experience as an Environmental Control Technician or equivalent,
OR
Two years of experience as an Environmental Control Technician.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
