Definition

Assists liquor enforcement or security personnel by obtaining and presenting evidence of violations of internal operating procedures and policies or liquor laws and regulations.

Typical Work

Contacts persons suspected of violating State liquor laws and regulations; attempts to purchase unlawful liquor or observe other liquor violations for purpose of obtaining evidence; 

Reports results of investigation efforts; records description of violation, type of violation, location of violation, and detailed account of the unlawful liquor operation; 

Signs affidavits as basis for issuance of search and arrest warrants; 

Testifies in court; 

Obtains and presents evidence of violations of internal operating procedures and policies or liquor laws and regulations; 

Performs other work as required.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:  habits and practices of liquor law violations. 

Ability to: be versatile in meeting, mixing with, and obtaining confidence of all types of persons so they will vouch for him in places where liquor is being sold illegally; exercise ingenuity in obtaining leads on illegal liquor operation.. and Follow through on such leads; observe all pertinent details going on while in a place where liquor laws are violated; retain such information until it can he recorded; present proper testimony in court.

Desirable Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age.
