CONTRACTOR COMPLIANCE INSPECTOR 1
Definition
Assists in visiting jobsites to verify registration and licensing requirements of journey level electricians, plumbers and construction and plumbing contractors.
Typical Work
Contacts non-compliant contractors and educates on the licensing and registration requirements;
Requests information of unregistered contractors or non-certified journey level workers; prepares reports;
Assists in investigating complaints from homeowners, union, contractors or public agencies;
Assists in writing investigative statements, preparing reports, and maintaining work records;
Performs other work as required.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: construction practices; Washington State Apprenticeship and Journeyman Crafts Regulations; Washington State contractor, plumbing and electrical laws and regulations;
Ability to: explain technical requirements to lay persons; meet and deal effectively with others; prepare clear and concise reports; explain laws and regulations of plumbing and electrical journeyman procedure requirements or laws and regulations on contractors registration requirements.

Desirable Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management or closely related field (e.g., electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering).
