Plans, supervises and coordinates the work, and conducts training of Brand Inspectors and Clerks in assigned geographical area. Conducts more difficult inspections and investigations. Works with representatives of livestock industry to promote understanding and support for Livestock Identification Act and agriculture regulatory controls. Familiarizes and assists law enforcement agencies in identification methods and theft prevention of livestock.

Coordinates work of Brand Inspectors and Brand Clerks to assure coverage of area for emergency or unplanned activities requiring inspections of livestock;

Conducts training in laws, rules, methods and procedures for livestock identification, investigations, public relations and livestock theft preventions;

Works with individual ranchers and representative of livestock industry to promote an understanding and support of livestock laws and regulations; attends meetings; participates in programs; interprets laws and regulations;

Works with law enforcement agencies to acquaint them with methods of detection and prevention of livestock thefts, methods of positive identification and testifies as an expert witness in courts;

Performs all work of Brand Inspector l;

Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge of: methods, techniques and procedures used in inspection of livestock for positive identification; agriculture laws and regulations, rules of evidence and laws of arrest; operating procedures of livestock industry, methods and procedures for receipt, control and accounting for public funds.

Ability to: coordinate work of several employees, work with representatives of livestock industry and law enforcement agencies; recognize citizen rights and controversial interest and resolve issues; train others.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Four years' experience as a Brand Inspector.

Two years' experience in law enforcement, military service or work involving direct public contact may be substituted for two years' experience as a Brand Inspector.
