Under specific direction, performs scientific and technical duties in support of plant disease and/or insect detection and control, plant certification, nursery inspection and quarantine activities in the field of entomology or plant pathology.

Sets insect traps, collects insects, records information;

Schedules, coordinates and supervises the work of seasonal personnel involved in insect or plant disease detection and control;

Issues State phytosanitary certificates authorizing interstate and international movement of plants and plant products;

Maintains close contact with other Agricultural Technologists within the State;

Maintains public contact for the sharing of information relative to the control and eradication of insect pests;

Prepares technical reports;

Assists in nursery inspections, plant certification or quarantine programs;

Performs other work as required.

A Bachelor's degree in entomology, plant pathology, horticulture, botany, agronomy or closely allied field.

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
