Definition

Maintain current room and building space inventory for all campus facilities; prepare classroom and laboratory utilization data and coordinate the updating of reference plans.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Positions in this class perform prescribed procedures in space utilization data collection and application in space programs.

Typical Work

Maintain space inventory by scaling assignable square feet from drawings or by performing on-site inspection and measurement;

Coordinate the updating of scaled reference drawings of floor plan changes to reflect additions, deletions or changes in the arrangement of space;

Assign descriptions, classify rooms and determine departmental assignment of additional or remodeled spaces;

Collect and maintain information on all buildings for the building inventory by computing the gross assignable and non-assignable spaces from available drawings;

Determine classroom capacities and prepare classroom rosters;

Accumulate and prepare basic data and compile classroom and teaching laboratory utilization statistics;

Conduct specific studies or facilities and their use;

Perform related duties as required.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Desirable Qualifications

Three years of applicable work experience, one year of which must have been in space analysis or related work. College training in a related field may substitute for up to two years of the general applicable work experience on the basis of two years of college for one year of experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Examination Requirements:

  • A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
