Definition
In a training capacity for future field assignment assists the public in explaining State laws, policies, and procedures pertaining to claims or complaints; conducts research and investigations, and prepares written reports on such fact finding activities.
Typical Work
Assists members of the public (in person, by telephone, or by letter); explains pertinent departmental procedures and policies; and summarizes applicable State laws;
Advises individuals, when appropriate, in the preparation of complete and accurate written reports of claims or complaints;
Prepares first-stage correspondence to members of the public, business community, or other organizations to implement complaint or claims processing procedures of the department;
Assists senior investigators in compiling and verifying information which might be required in the processing of a particular claim or complaint;
Conducts research and routine type investigations;
Prepares written reports summarizing results of investigative or research projects;
Screens advertising media to ensure compliance and conformity with State standards;
Performs other work as required.

Desirable Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree.
OR
Two years of college and one year of either technical experience in the collection of delinquent accounts or professional experience in research, investigation, auditing, writing, reporting, administration, law enforcement, community relations or allied field.
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted, year for year, for education.
