Policy Changes
Cancer Screening and Prevention
This funding will address a federal grant shortfall and enable the department to maintain existing services, enhance data systems, and increase work in addressing inequities around services related to cancer treatment. (General Fund - State, General Fund - Federal)
COVID-19 Funding Gap
Funding is provided to continue COVID-19 response activities and vaccination administration efforts. The department must conserve this appropriation and maximize the use of federal reimbursements, including possible Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reimbursement for eligible activities. (General Fund - State)
Fees to Maintain Services
Many of the department's regulatory programs are fully supported by fees. The department is establishing new fees and increasing existing fees in several groups, and this increased fee revenue will fund current levels of service and align with RCW 43.70.250. (Health Professions Account - State)
Behavioral Health Agency Regulation
There is an increase in licensure and regulatory activities in the department’s behavioral health agency (BHA) program. This funding will help cover the gap between fee revenue and the program costs. (General Fund - Private/Local, General Fund - Local, Health Professions Account - State)
Monkeypox Response
Funding is provided for monkeypox virus response activities and vaccination administration efforts. The department must conserve this appropriation and maximize the use of federal reimbursements. (General Fund - State)
Adjust 988 Funding Levels
Funding is adjusted to reflect actual expenditures. (Stw988BehavHealth&SuicidePrevLine - State)
Reproductive Health
Funds are provided for grants to providers of abortion care who participate in the department's family planning and reproductive health program to maintain the availability of services for low-income Washingtonians. (General Fund - State)
Technical Corrections
Funding is provided for variances found in the reconciliation of multiple budget steps to correct the federal funding source, provide additional federal and local authority, and net zero category transfers between agency programs. (General Fund - State, Model Toxics Control Operating Acct - State)
